Willy Verginer (b. 1957, Italy). Lives and works in Ortisei. Verginer attended the Academy of Monaco environments. With such a distinctive style, it’s no wonder that his artworks has found international support and has been exhibited in important museums and galleries around the world. In 2011 Willy Verginer was invited to the 54th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale to represent the Region of Trentino Alto Adige.

Capturing the essence of its territory, the memory of the places without denying its roots, Verginer has built a road of his own, original and figurative. Appearing simultaneously lifelike and whimsical, his sculptures are dipped in bold colors and patterned, adding just the right amount of surrealism.

The sculptures of Willy Verginer rise up with all their mass, volume, and the weight of their material in the space they are placed in. The forms created by Verginer seem concerned only with themselves and their own internal system of formal relationships and meanings. The sharp and embattled handling with which he provokes and caresses wood does not result in anything ancient.

Verginer’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, notably at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lissone and at the Cavalese Contemporary Art Center in Trentino, both in Italy. His works are also found in many private collections in Europe, the United States and Canada.
