Life In The Detail - Gil Goren

Selected works of Gil Goren. Advertiser, graphic designer, conceptual artist, senior creative director and manager of Design at Yehushua/TBWA, one of the leading advertising agencies in Israel.

In 2009, on a sunny New York afternoon everything came together: the advertising messages, the typography, the colors, the layout, the richness of information, and the unstoppable movement of the city. All these aspects came together to create a process of creativity that resulted in the art of Gil Goren. Goren is a sort of modern, contemporary visual scribe, who creates collages that contain secret and encrypted codes whose messages provide a challenge for viewers to decipher. Goren’s artworks are all made by hand, and each piece is one of a kind. All artworks are based on original photographs, that are taken by Goren himself, and then printed directly on small pieces of wood.

Samurai Cats - Hiro Ando

A selection of works by Japanese artist Hiro Ando, founder of the studio Crazy Noodles, who just recently added sculpture to his large spread of media and started working on a series of sculptures which were inspired by his Japanese popular culture. In this way, the cat, which in Japan is a lucky charm in the form of the Maneki-Neko, comes in a variety of traditional Japanese figures such as the Samurai or the Sumo. He translates this theme in a very modern way. The shiny and smooth materials, the bright colors, the sharp but rounded shapes of Hiro Ando’s sculptures take us to the world of Mangas in which the artist’s generation grew up in. The art of Hiro ANDO is the meeting between the Meiji era and the Manga, it is Shogun in Pokemon land, it is traditional Japan viewed through young eyes: it definitely is Japanese Neo Pop Art.

Yann Houri’s Exhibition features new paintings his creations invariably evoke strong emotional responses. Yann’s work beautifully captures the chaotic elements of human passion; however, Yann balances fieriness with tranquility through his subtle mastery of drawing. Perceptions of Yann Houri’s art are initially explained as a brilliant firework, as a chromatic explosion that is destabilizing yet intriguing, but nevertheless perfectly mastered.

Hyperrealist Exhibition

ZK Gallery presents Yigal Ozeri, Israeli-born, New York-based hyperrealist painter. Ozeri exhibits predominantly in New York and Israel, but his work has been shown worldwide. This exhibition reveals his calibrated balance between the romantic and sexual. Ozeri rejected painting professional models, with bodies close to perfection, and instead opted to focus on people in their natural environments.

His models assume poses and facial expressions reminiscent to those of respected master painters, yet are placed in contemporary environments. The tension he ignites in his subjects combined with carefully considered compositions magnifies their presence and expression.

Opening Reception – Thursday, July 24th at 6:00pm – 9:00pm
